Figured I'd start preparing everyone for the summer blockbuster movies that are about to hit the theaters soon.
Husbands,boyfriends,etc. You're up first. Don't say I didn't warn you.
The Help:
Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, “The Help” stars Emma Stone (star of the breakout hit, “Zombieland”) as Skeeter, a southern society girl who returns from college determined to become a writer, but turns her friends’ lives—and a small Mississippi town—upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. Academy Award® nominee Viola Davis (“Eat Pray Love”) stars as Aibileen, Skeeter’s best friend’s housekeeper, who is the first to open up—to the dismay of her friends in the tight-knit black community. Despite Skeeter’s life-long friendships hanging in the balance, she and Aibileen continue their collaboration and soon more women come forward to tell their stories—and as it turns out, they have a lot to say. Along the way, unlikely friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become unwittingly—and unwillingly—caught up in the changing times.

Fellas you know she's going to ask you to go. You won't have an excuse not to. The only thing on t.v. will be pre-season NFL football (granted there's even a season). You're going to act like the game is a big deal figuring she doesn't know the difference between the preseason and regular season. Well I'm all about spending quality time so ladies; during preseason football the starters (or stars) of the team usally only play about 1 quarter (if that). Then the coaches put in the back-up players for the remainder of the game. The games are only for scouting and roster purposes and do not even count towards the regular season standings. So there you have it, no excuses. Just face it guys,on August 10th YOU'RE GOING.
I've read the book and I would never drag my hubby to see this. IMO this will definitely be a "Ladies Day Out" thing. I try not to force the Hubs to see movies that I know he won't like.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but trust and beleive there are going to be a lot of husbands and boyfriends who are not going to be so "lucky." But don't worry. In next weeks movie posts there are a few movies coming out that some women are going to have to grin and bear as well. It's all about compromise.
